Let's not beat around the bush. The big news here in the final stretch of the campaign is this:
We have heard your requests, and the whole team has been burning the midnight oil, working behind the scenes to try to make it happen. We are so pleased to be able to announce today that now—at no additional cost to our Kickstarter backers—all Miskatonic Missives books will be produced as hardcover editions.
This was not a simple decision to make. Changing from a softcover to a hardcover entails a lot of production changes and increased expenses, including unit costs (cost per book), minimum order quantities (for production with our printing partners), shipping (from our printing partners to HPLHS HQ), and postage (from that location to you). It was not a decision we made lightly. We also remain committed to only using the highest quality materials and processes, which means we would not simply slap on any old hard cover and call it a day. Your Miskatonic Missives books will be printed on high-quality paper, and smythe sewn and case bound with a quarter binding and gold foil details.
As a result of the shift to hardcover books, there will have to be an increase in the price of all books, but we are committed to only implementing that after the Kickstarter campaign has concluded. To show our gratitude to all of you who have made this campaign such a success so far, all books that backers pledge for during the Kickstarter will be upgraded at no cost to you.
With the looming price increase, now is the time to pre-order the books. If you know anyone who is considering backing (i.e. someone who is not already a backer), they can get in on the current price only until the campaign's conclusion tomorrow evening (U.S. Eastern time). If you are an existing backer, perhaps thinking of ordering extra copies as gifts, you can still do so at the current price, either through Kickstarter or once you receive your BackerKit survey in the weeks following the conclusion of the campaign (details to follow). After tomorrow evening, the price for book pre-orders via other platforms (e.g. our web store) will be higher than that offered to backers.
We are in the last 36 hours of the campaign, and we have just one stretch goal to go. If we can reach our final goal, we would love to see you all at a virtual countdown party on Friday November 12. If we hit the goal, we will share details on how to join tomorrow, but start thinking of your questions for Andrew and Sean!
Please consider sharing the project directly with friends, family, colleagues, or fellow cultists you think may be interested! Now is the time for those people who may be on the fence about the project to pick up three top-quality, hardcover books at a reduced price. Sharing the campaign via social media (feel free to tag us, and use #MiskatonicMissives) is also tremendously helpful. A few of you have been doing this tirelessly throughout the campaign—thank you.

We are into the final hours of the campaign, and as we get ever closer to reaching the final stretch goal, we are busy preparing for the livestream countdown event. We will have more on that later, but for now we have one more final upgrade to announce!
Most of our backers have opted for the Collector's Edition, and many of you have also ordered our Miskatonic Missives pin as an add-on. To introduce a little more variety and exclusivity for the Kickstarter Collector's Edition, we have created a new, exclusive enamel pin design of a philatelic persuasion. This new pin will be the one included in the Collectors Edition set, and will be exclusive to Kickstarter Collector's Edition backers. It won't be included with any Collector's Edition books sold after the campaign ends.
It's not too late to upgrade to the Collector's Edition if you want the new pin! And, never fear, the original Miskatonic Missives pin design is still available as an add-on for anyone who might want to get their hands on both.
